Vishay T55 Series Polymer Chip Capacitor Expansion

Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced that it has expanded its T55 series of vPolyTanTM surface mount polymer 钽 molded chip capacitors with the addition of a D-profile (EIA 7343-31) size device. The number of ESR values dropped from 9 mW to 7 mW, and a 6 mW ESR value device is under development.

The capacitors released today retain the previous large form factor, with a one-digit ESR value that is 3 mW to 5 mW lower than the typical D dimension. This helps reduce voltage drop, improve frequency response, and has an excellent ripple current rating of up to 5.67 A IRMS, reducing the number of capacitors required on the PCB substrate. In addition to saving board space, the D size of 3.1 mm is thin and easy to design a thinner finished product.

The T55 series is available in compact J, P, A, B, T (thin B - up to 1.2 mm), D, V and Z, capacitance from 3.3 μF to 1000 μF, rated voltage from 2.5 V to 63 V, and capacitance tolerance ± 20%. The device is ideal for power management, battery decoupling, and energy storage in computers, servers, networking equipment, solid state drives, and wireless transceivers.

The capacitor operates from -55 °C to + 105 °C and has a low internal resistance to improve charge and discharge characteristics. The T55 series capacitors are lead (Pb)-free, RoHS and Vishay green, halogen free. The device can be mounted using a high-speed automatic pick-and-place device with a Moisture Sensitivity Level (MSL) of Class 3.

New single-digit ESR capacitors are available now and are in volume production with lead times of 14 to 16 weeks.
